The Eastern Region is one of the ten regions of Cameroon 2 , located in the South-East of the country. Its capital is Bertoua . The majority of its territory is covered with equatorial forest. It is bordered by the South , Adamaoua and Central regions .

Situation

The region is located in the southeast of the country, bordering three prefectures of the Central African Republic and a department of the Republic of Congo .

Population

Populations of the Eastern region.

The population of the region, although having practically doubled between the censuses of 1976 and 2005 , represents , with 777,755 inhabitants, 4.4% of the total population of Cameroon. It is the least densely populated region with 7.1  inhabitants per km2 .
